- Route by the taxpayer’s address, not the representative’s.
- The IRS requires a handwritten (wet-ink) signature on a faxed Form 2848. Typed or drawn digital signatures are rejected — print, sign, then scan or photograph the signed page.
- Faxing does not speed up CAF processing. Expect several weeks before the authorization appears on the IRS system.
- If your representative is filing through the Tax Pro Account, they may not need to fax at all.
